چکیده
ORGANIC REACTIONS Enzyme reactions are in general simple reactions which you might encounter in organic chemistry. Quite often the cell has a need to break a C-C bond, a C-N bond, or a C-O bond. Or maybe the cell would like to transfer one functional group from one compound to the next. Or maybe make a long chain polymer for storage purposes, or for structural purposes. All of these reactions and more can be carried out by enzymes. Four types of organic reactions are commonly carried out by enzymes. These are: 1. Displacement (or substitution) reactions 2. Addition reactions 3. Elimination reactions 4. Rearrangements 1. Displacement reactions can be either nucleophilic or electrophilic. A reaction is electrophilic when the attacking group is an electrophile that is, is attracted to electrons. Electrophilic substitution reactions often involve the displacement of hydrogen. For example:

Green Synthesis of Nanoceria (CeO2) and Evaluation of Enzyme like Characteristics
In this study, the synthesis of ceria (CeO2) nanoparticles (NPs) was examined by the biosynthesis method. Then, enzyme-like features of synthesized nanoceria were examined. Peroxidase enzyme from fig (Ficus carica) was used as a synthesis and stabilizer reagent. Furthermore, it was investigated whether the obtained nanoceria has superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and peroxidase (POX) ac...
متن کاملPossible Involvement of Hepatic Phosphatidate Phosphohydrolase in the Mechanisms of Actions of Certain Antilipemic Drugs in Rats
The effects of therapeutic doses of dillsun, garsin, antum and statins on rat liver cytosolic phosphatidate phosphohydrolase (PAP) activity, a key enzyme in triacylglycerol synthesis, and on serum and liver lipids were examined. Lovastatin and simvastatin both stimulated the enzyme activity by 29% and 43%, respectively. The stimulatory effects were dose-dependent and accompanied by the decline ...

متن کاملMechanisms of the 14-3-3 protein function: regulation of protein function through conformational modulation.
Many aspects of protein function regulation require specific protein-protein interactions to carry out the exact biochemical and cellular functions. The highly conserved members of the 14-3-3 protein family mediate such interactions and through binding to hundreds of other proteins provide multitude of regulatory functions, thus playing key roles in many cellular processes. The 14-3-3 protein b...
متن کاملKinetic Investigation of Myeloperoxidase upon Interaction with Copper, Cadmium, and Lead Ions
Background: Myeloperoxidase (MPO), which is abundantly expressed in neutrophils, catalyzes the formation of a number of reactive oxidant species. However, evidence has emerged that MPO-derived oxidants contribute to tissue damage and initiation and propagation of inflammatory diseases, particularly, cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, studying the regulatory mechanisms of the enzyme activity is...
